Key Points
Single-dose antibiotic prophylaxis recommended only for dental/oral surgery procedures involving gingival tissue/periapical region manipulation or oral mucosal perforation—only for pts w/ these cardiac conditions: 1) prosthetic valve/material, 2) previous IE (infective endocarditis), 3) cardiac txp w/ valvulopathy, or 4) certain CHD conditions, per AHA. Good oral hygiene is key for all.
