<b>Postexposure monitoring in community:</b> Monitor x21 days.<sup>2</sup> Perform thorough skin and mucosal (e.g., anal, vaginal, oral) exam for the characteristic vesiculopustular rash of mpox; this allows for detection of lesions the pt may not have been aware of.<sup>7</sup> Instruct pt to monitor temp bid; other sx of concern include: chills, new LAD, rash.<sup>8</sup> <b>If rash develops,</b> follow isolation and prevention practices until: the rash is evaluated by an HCP; testing is performed, if recommended by an HCP; and test results are negative. <b>If other s/sx w/o rash:</b> Follow isolation and prevention practices x5 days, extending beyond the original 21-day monitoring period prn. If no new s/sx develop, stop isolation and prevention practices. Monitor for the remainder of the 21-day period. If additional s/sx develop, a new 5-day isolation period starts, even if it will end after day 21.<sup>2</sup>
